The Developmental Pediatric Therapy Clinic: Offering quality healthcare in Central Florida for over 30 years.

Student Observation Policy

Our clinic recognizes and fully supports the need to provide physical and occupational therapy and therapy assistant student candidates the opportunity to observe patient treatment in a clinical setting.  Our practice is a pediatric outpatient clinic, and as such the student will observe the treatment of a variety of physical and developmental disabilities.

In recent years we have found that students are becoming overly focused on amassing large numbers of observation hours in order to be competitive in the application process.  We feel that it is more important for candidates to attain hours in a wide variety of clinical settings in order to gain a true understanding of the profession as a whole.  Our clinic is small and the patient caseloads are long term in nature.  We feel our past attempt to accommodate all student requests became stressful for the parents of the children we treat.
